Police Probe Gangland Link to Car Ram Attack in Glasgow
Gangland Car Ram Attack Under Investigation in Glasgow

Police are investigating a suspected gangland link after a car was reversed into a house in Glasgow's Barlanark area and set on fire. The property on Garvel Crescent has been boarded up following the early morning attack on Thursday.

Details of the Attack

The incident occurred at around 12:40am when a vehicle was reversed into the living room window of the house before being torched. Emergency services attended the scene, and the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported, but nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution.

Images from the scene show a large hole in the front of the property, with the window frame and glass completely destroyed. Police officers stood guard outside as a workman boarded up the damaged area.

Gangland Revenge Theory

Sources have indicated that the attack may be linked to an ongoing gang war. It is believed to be revenge for a firebomb attack on a business linked to David McMillan Snr, an associate of mob boss Richardson, in Edinburgh earlier this week.

The attack is also being examined in connection with Operation Portaledge, a police investigation into the gang war involving Ross McGill's Tamo Junto gang and the Lyons crime mob. The two groups have been at war with Richardson's crew for over a year, following a dispute over a £500,000 cocaine deal paid with counterfeit banknotes.

The targeted house is reportedly linked to a relative of Lyons gang foot soldiers, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Witness Account

A local resident told how two thugs arrived in the area an hour before the car ramming. A vehicle then appeared on the street and was driven into the house. The thugs were seen throwing a petrol bomb into the car before fleeing the scene.

Emergency services attended, the fire was extinguished and there were no reports of injuries. Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution. It is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
