A viral video shows England fans surrounding a lone Scottish supporter in Boston, singing a mocking chant about Scotland's defeat to Morocco. The clip, posted on X, captures a group of English men outside the Dubliner Irish Pub jumping and shouting, 'Scotland get battered everywhere we go,' while the Scotsman, wearing a Scotland top and kilt, laughs and holds up his arm.
Scotland lost 1-0 to Morocco on Friday, with a goal just 70 seconds after kickoff, costing them the top spot in Group C. Despite the defeat, the Tartan Army continues celebrations, though many have left Boston for Miami ahead of Scotland's game against Brazil on Wednesday, June 24.
Social media reactions
Users criticized the English fans' behavior. One commented, 'I've yet to hear an English song that's not about Scotland.' Another said, 'Always negative and hateful.' A third wrote, 'They know how to bring bad vibes to the party.' Others noted the English fans' fixation: 'Scotland daft this lot. Rent free.'
Previous incidents
This is not the first time England fans have mocked Scotland during the World Cup. Earlier, after Scotland's 1-0 win against Haiti, they were filmed chanting 'You Can Shove Your F***ing Bagpipes Up Your A***' in a pub, with one man using a bottle on a basin drum for rhythm.
Scotland's World Cup hopes
Despite the setback, Scotland can still qualify for the knockout stages for the first time. They face Brazil on Wednesday, June 24, at Miami Stadium at 6pm EST (11pm BST).
