Olivia Robinson, a 20-year-old British lifeguard and triathlete, is lucky to be alive after falling from a third-storey window in Honolulu, Hawaii, during a dream trip to the United States. She has no memory of how the accident occurred.
No memory of the fall
Olivia arrived in Hawaii in May 2026 for solo travel before moving to Connecticut to work as a lifeguard. On July 4, she met friends, returned to her Airbnb, and went to bed. The next thing she recalls is waking up in hospital, where doctors told her police had brought her in after she fell three storeys from a window.
The fall shattered her pelvis, right thighbone, and wrist, and damaged her bladder. She is now awaiting surgery on her pelvis and femur.
Family's desperate plea
Her sister Megan Davis, from Preston, Lancashire, set up a GoFundMe to cover the costs for their parents to fly to Hawaii. Megan said: "I just can't actually believe she's alive with the breaks that she's had, it's just a miracle she's still alive. She's in such a severe condition on her own, you just feel helpless."
Megan added: "We have had little FaceTime calls with her, but she's just completely out of it, she has no memory whatsoever of anything, it's just so sad watching her. She's in and out of consciousness, but she's been in extreme pain, it's traumatising watching her. She's got nobody and my mum just desperately wants to get out there."
Investigation launched
An investigation is underway to determine what happened, as Olivia's last memory is going to bed. Her brother Kieran said: "She initially went travelling around America, then she got a job as a lifeguard. She's an avid swimmer, she's the sportiest person you could ever come across, she's done triathlons - sport is her life."
Kieran continued: "She's had a day off, been to see some friends, staying in an Airbnb, then the last thing she remembers is saying she's going to bed. The hospital contacted my mum on Sunday and then my mum rang me to say she's had an accident, but we didn't know the full extent."
He added: "My dad then rang me and he gave as much as he knew of the circumstances surrounding her falling. For a 20-year-old to find herself in that position, I couldn't be prouder of how she's handled it because she must have been absolutely terrified."
Fundraising for parents' travel
Megan is fundraising so her parents can fly to be at Olivia's bedside. She said: "We just feel completely helpless. I just wish I had a pot of cash I could just give to my mum and dad because that's really the main barrier - the international travel and the accommodation and the expenses."
She added: "You just feel totally powerless because it goes against all your instincts as a sister to not actually be able to be there and to sit with her. She's in a right mess and I just want to be there. I've been in a right emotional mess."
