A three-month-old baby has gone missing after being snatched from his pushchair in southwest Germany, triggering a massive police search. The incident occurred in Renningen around 11:30 p.m. on June 18.
Police Search Intensifies
Police have deployed helicopters and drones to locate the missing infant but admit they currently have no promising leads. According to reports, the baby was left alone for a short time before being taken from his stroller. His parents alerted authorities, who believe an unknown person lifted the child and carried him away.
An extensive search involving drones, helicopters, firefighters, and 40 rescue dogs is underway. Police have also confirmed the use of cadaver dogs, specially trained to detect decomposing bodies, in the search.
Concerns Over Heat
With temperatures in Germany soaring above 30 degrees Celsius this week, officers expressed concern, stating that if the baby were left helpless in such heat, it would be very bad. The suspected kidnapping occurred near the mother's home in Renningen, Baden-Württemberg.
Renningen's mayor, Melanie Hettmer, 49, said: "I am speechless and deeply worried. I hope the child is found safe and sound."
Public Urged Not to Interfere
Local residents who tried to form search groups on social media were warned that their efforts could disrupt the police investigation. The Ludwigsburg Police Headquarters urgently requested that people refrain from conducting their own search operations.
