A Ryanair flight from Manchester was forced to make an emergency landing in Brest, France, after a smoke smell was detected in the cabin. The FR4052 service, which departed at 18:30 GMT on Monday, was originally bound for Faro, Portugal.
The airline confirmed that the diversion was caused by a minor technical issue that produced an unidentified smoke odour. Passengers were disembarked normally and taken to a secure area of Brest airport, where refreshments were provided.
A replacement aircraft from London Stansted was arranged, and passengers continued their journey to the Algarve after a delay of under three hours. Following inspection by engineers, the original aircraft was released back into service.
Ryanair apologised for the inconvenience and stated that safety was the airline's top priority.
