Lewis Hawkes, 36, has appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with five counts of attempted murder linked to terrorism, following alleged anti-Muslim attacks in the city. The Crown Office confirmed he faces additional charges of assault and robbery, two counts of breach of the peace, and two counts of culpable and reckless conduct, all aggravated by a terrorist connection.
Attacks leave five injured
Counter-terrorism officers investigated the series of attacks across Edinburgh on Friday, which left five people injured and are suspected to have an anti-Muslim motivation. Two men were taken to hospital after being stabbed multiple times following prayers at Broomhouse Mosque that evening.
Hawkes, 36, faces a total of ten charges, all with a terrorism connection. The Crown Office stated that the charges are aggravated by reason of having a terrorist connection.

Hawkes made his first appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Saturday. No plea was entered, and he was remanded in custody pending further proceedings. The case has been reported to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.
