Christopher Malcolm, 47, was jailed for 16 years at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday, July 17, after being convicted of a series of violent and sexual crimes against four women. He was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Convictions for Rape and Assault
Malcolm was found guilty following a trial at the same court in June of multiple offences, including rape, assault to injury, and endangerment of life. The abuse spanned from 2010 to 2024, taking place in East Lothian and Elgin.
Impact on Victims
Detective Sergeant Jade Wardell of Police Scotland said: “Malcolm subjected four women to years of horrific abuse, causing lasting trauma and having a profound impact on their lives. I would like to acknowledge the support provided by all victims throughout the investigation and court process, which has ultimately led to his conviction.”
Police Encouragement to Report
DS Wardell added: “Violence and abuse of any kind have no place in society and we remain committed to supporting victims and bringing those responsible to justice. I would encourage anyone who has experienced sexual abuse or violence to report it to police. Every report will be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.”
Police Scotland reiterated its commitment to supporting victims and investigating all reports of sexual violence.
