Kiran Kaur, the mother of Vickrum Digwa who stabbed Henry Nowak to death, has been jailed for three years for removing the knife from the crime scene. Kaur was found to have assisted her son on the night of the murder, December 3, 2025, by taking the weapon back to the nearby family home.
Background of the murder
Digwa, 23, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years on June 1 for the murder of 18-year-old finance student Henry Nowak. Digwa had falsely claimed that Nowak had racially abused him prior to the stabbing.
Sentencing of Kiran Kaur
Sentencing Kaur, Judge William Mousley KC said: 'A responsible parent would have challenged their son over their actions and encourage them to do the right thing. Instead you took the knife home and put it with a larger collection of ceremonial and other weapons in your son’s bedroom. That would have helped to conceal what it had been used for.'
The judge emphasized that Kaur's actions hindered the investigation and showed a lack of responsibility. The three-year sentence reflects the seriousness of tampering with evidence in a murder case.
