As the centenarian, surnamed Wang, was being wheeled out of a medical appointment by his new 68-year-old wife, Ms Lai, a waiting group of three sons, three daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren surged forward. Video footage shows a chaotic struggle as the family pushed Ms aside, took control of the wheelchair, and attempted to whisk Mr Wang away. During the altercation, Ms Lai shouted for police assistance and reportedly sustained injuries.
Officers arrived promptly after receiving a distress call. The family members identified themselves as his children and in-laws, asserting their right to take him. Ultimately, they succeeded in leaving with the elderly man, leaving his new wife behind in a state of distress.
