A furious father is demanding answers from the Ministry of Justice after his daughter was assaulted by a transgender prisoner who was previously convicted of sex offences against children.
The Violent Incident
The attack occurred at HMP Bronzefield, Europe's largest women's prison, where the transgender inmate - born male but identifying as female - was being housed. The victim, whose father we're calling 'Michael' to protect his identity, suffered injuries requiring hospital treatment.
"My daughter was assaulted by this person who has a penis and is a known paedophile," Michael told the Daily Mail. "She's been left traumatised, and the system that allowed this to happen has failed her completely."
Dangerous Placement
The perpetrator had been transferred to the women's facility despite having previous convictions for child sex offences. This case raises urgent questions about the safeguarding of female prisoners and the policies governing transgender inmate placements.
Michael described receiving the terrifying phone call informing him of the assault: "When I heard what happened, I felt physically sick. To think that someone with this background was placed in a vulnerable women's prison is beyond comprehension."
Systemic Failures
This incident highlights growing concerns about the Ministry of Justice's approach to housing transgender prisoners. Critics argue that current policies prioritise the rights of transgender inmates over the safety of biological women in the prison system.
"The government needs to urgently review these policies," Michael insisted. "No woman should have to fear sexual assault in prison, especially from someone with a history of offences against children."
