Texas Officer Relieved Over Alleged Racist Video Rant

Houston Police Officer Removed from Duty Following Alleged Racist Video

A police officer in Texas has been relieved of her duties after a video allegedly showing her delivering a vile racist rant against black people circulated widely online. Officer Ashley Gonzalez of the Houston Police Department (HPD) is now the subject of an internal investigation to determine the authenticity and context of the footage.

Disturbing Content of the Alleged Video

The video, which has garnered over 1.1 million views on social media platforms, purportedly shows a woman identified as Gonzalez inside a vehicle using multiple racist slurs. In the footage, she declares her hatred for black people and makes specific threats related to her police duties.

"Let me get a f*****g black person on a 911 call tomorrow. You're going f****** to jail," the woman states in the video. She continues with even more offensive language, adding: "The amount of times I will always and forever say that I f***** hate n*****... like I hate y'all."

According to reports from Fox26 and Click 2 Houston, the rant apparently stemmed from an incident where Gonzalez claimed a black person attempted to steal her wallet while she was out with a friend. She expressed satisfaction at using racial slurs against the alleged thief, remarking that it reminded her of her time serving in the United States Marine Corps.

Official Responses and Investigation Status

The Houston Police Officers Union issued a formal statement on Tuesday acknowledging the video and condemning the racist remarks. "It is our belief that the Department is diligently working to confirm the authenticity of this video and will take appropriate measures to ensure public confidence and trust between our department and our community," the statement read.

Authorities have told KHOU that they believe the woman in the video is indeed Officer Gonzalez. While she remains technically employed by the department, she has been relieved of all duties pending the outcome of the investigation. The results will determine whether she will be reinstated or face indefinite suspension, which would result in termination and make her ineligible for rehire by HPD.

Background and Community Reaction

Officer Gonzalez joined the Houston Police Department in January 2024 and was assigned to the South Gessner Patrol Division. The U.S. Marine Corps confirmed she served from 2019 to 2023 before beginning her police career.

The video has sparked significant outrage within the community. Civil rights activist Candice Matthews took to Facebook to demand Gonzalez's firing, stating: "You will not use the N-word and talk about Black people and think you gon' still be holding the badge in my damn city." Matthews emphasized that while she supports law enforcement, she does not tolerate racism hiding behind the badge.

Numerous activists and organizations have joined calls for Gonzalez's termination, citing the damaging impact such behavior has on community-police relations. The Houston Police Department has not yet issued an official public comment beyond acknowledging the ongoing investigation.
