
Nottingham Forest icon and former England defender Stuart Pearce has been charged with drink driving following a traffic stop in Gloucestershire, according to police statements.
The 61-year-old football legend, affectionately known as 'Psycho' during his playing days, was stopped by officers on the A417 in Gloucestershire earlier this month. Police confirmed the incident occurred on Thursday, February 1st.
Court Date Set for Football Legend
Pearce is scheduled to appear before magistrates in Cheltenham on March 5th, where he will face charges relating to driving while over the prescribed alcohol limit.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police stated: "Stuart Pearce, aged 61 and of Brimscombe, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with alcohol level above limit. He is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, March 5."
From Pitch to Courtroom
The former left-back enjoyed an illustrious playing career spanning nearly two decades with clubs including Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, and West Ham United. Pearce earned 78 caps for England between 1987 and 1999, participating in multiple major tournaments.
Since retiring from playing, Pearce has transitioned into management and punditry, having managed Manchester City, the England Under-21 team, and serving as Great Britain football team coach for the 2012 London Olympics.
