Tragic Investigation Launched After Infant's Death

Authorities in Australia have launched a major investigation following the tragic death of a one-year-old boy in a regional community northwest of Melbourne.

Victoria Police confirmed the child became unresponsive at his family home, located approximately 110km northwest of Melbourne, around 12pm local time on Tuesday, November 4.

Hospital Treatment and Subsequent Death

The infant was rushed to hospital by his 26-year-old mother and her 18-year-old partner. Despite receiving medical treatment, the boy sadly passed away two days later on Thursday, November 6.

"The exact circumstances leading up to the child's death are still being determined," Victoria Police stated in an official release regarding the ongoing investigation.

Specialist Detectives Join Investigation

The case has now drawn in specialist investigators from multiple units. Detectives from the Homicide Squad have joined forces with the Ballarat Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Investigation Team to uncover the facts surrounding this tragedy.

Police have confirmed that investigators have already spoken with both the boy's mother and her partner as part of their enquiries. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
