Family's 'Excruciating' Grief After Nottingham Stabbing
A 20-year-old man who was stabbed to death on a Nottingham street has been named by police as his family speak of their 'excruciating' grief. Marley Gascoine was found with stab wounds on Abbotsford Drive in the St Ann's area of the city on Monday afternoon, November 10, 2025.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 12.50pm after the young man was discovered injured. He was treated by paramedics but, despite their best efforts, died a short time later.
Investigation and Arrest Following Fatal Attack
A post-mortem examination concluded that Mr Gascoine died from a single stab wound to the chest. The investigation moved quickly, leading to the arrest of a 20-year-old man on suspicion of murder on Tuesday morning, November 11.
That suspect remains in police custody after officers were granted more time to question him. Nottinghamshire Police have stated that the victim's family are being supported by specially trained officers during this incredibly difficult time.
A Mother's Heartbreaking Tribute
Paying a moving tribute on behalf of the family, Mr Gascoine's mother described her son as her 'first born' who would 'always hold a special place in my heart'.
She said: 'We would like to thank everyone for their condolences at this excruciating, difficult time. Marley is my first born, and will always hold a special place in my heart. A fantastic son and big brother, grandson and nephew, we will all miss you tremendously.'
She added: 'The pain we all feel is indescribable, and, as a mum, there will forever be a piece of my heart missing. I've said a prayer to God to give you the peace you need, to wrap his loving arms around you, until we meet again. I love you.'
Police Reassure Public After Isolated Incident
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, leading the investigation, offered her condolences. 'Our thoughts remain with Mr Gascoine’s family and friends and we will continue to support them throughout this investigation,' she said.
DCI Burrow provided an update on the police probe, stating: 'Our extensive investigation is continuing, and we are making good progress with a team of highly skilled detectives working to establish exactly what has happened in order to ensure justice is delivered.'
In a direct message to the local community, she sought to offer reassurance: 'Once again I’d like to reassure the community that we do believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.'
