The victim of a fatal stabbing at a skate park in Northampton has been publicly identified for the first time as Mason Miller, a 20-year-old man who lost his life during a violent altercation. The incident, which occurred at Briar Hill Skate Park on February 18 at approximately 3:30 PM, also left a 17-year-old teenager with severe, life-changing injuries, and they remain hospitalised in a critical condition.
Emergency Response and Immediate Aftermath
Emergency services were alerted to reports of two individuals being stabbed at around 3:45 PM. Despite the rapid response and efforts of paramedics, Mr. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene. The attack is described as having taken place during an altercation, prompting a large-scale police operation.
Arrests and Court Appearances
In a complex and fast-paced investigation, Northamptonshire Police have arrested seven individuals from Northampton in connection with the stabbing. Four teenage boys, aged 17, 16, 15, and 14, were arrested on suspicion of murder. Additionally, a 35-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
As part of the wider inquiry, two 15-year-old boys and a 14-year-old youth appeared before Northampton Magistrates Court yesterday. They were charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon. All three were granted conditional bail and placed into the care of the local authority.

A police cordon remains in place at Briar Hill Skate Park as forensic officers continue their meticulous examination of the scene. Chief Inspector Kim Jackson stated that Northamptonshire Police are conducting house-to-house inquiries and increasing visibility patrols to reassure and support the local community during this distressing time.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Matt Bly of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), emphasised that this remains a fast-moving murder investigation with multiple lines of inquiry being actively pursued. He expressed condolences, saying, 'Our thoughts first and foremost remain with Mason's family at this difficult time.' The family has requested complete privacy as they come to terms with the tragedy.
