Police have released a picture of a man found dead at a popular nature reserve in Hampshire as a major murder investigation gets underway.
A Tragic Discovery
The body of Ernest Konrad Deputat, 45, was discovered at Southampton Common on October 8. The incident prompted Hampshire Police to immediately launch a murder probe, with detectives working tirelessly to piece together the circumstances leading to his death.
In a heartfelt tribute issued through the police, his grieving family remembered a beloved man whose presence was a comfort to those around him. The message, written in both English and Polish, read: "Your smile, accompanying humour and the lightness with which you conducted the conversation made people want to be with you. The whole family always missed you and were waiting for you, waiting for your arrival."
Large-Scale Police Investigation
Leading the inquiry, Detective Chief Inspector Matt Gillooly emphasised the force's commitment to finding answers. "First and foremost, my thoughts remain with Ernest's family at this unimaginably difficult time. We will continue to support them," he stated.
DCI Gillooly further confirmed the scale of the operation, noting: "This is a large-scale investigation and our hard work continues as we remain committed to determining Ernest's final movements, so that we can achieve answers and justice for his family."
Appeal for Information
Authorities are now focused on retracing Ernest's last known steps. The investigation remains active, with officers conducting extensive enquiries in the Southampton Common area and beyond.
This remains a developing story as police continue their pursuit of justice for Ernest Konrad Deputat and his devastated family.
