Arizona Man Allegedly Murders Parents and Confesses to 911

In a shocking incident in Peoria, Arizona, a 29-year-old man has been accused of murdering both of his parents before calling emergency services to confess to the brutal crime. Jonathan Turk reportedly contacted the Peoria Police Department at approximately 6:29 p.m. on Tuesday, informing dispatchers that he had killed his parents, Fraser Turk, 63, and Tina Turk, 56, inside their family home located near 83rd Avenue and Jomax Road.

Details of the Alleged Crime and Confession

According to court documents cited by local media, Turk told the 911 operator that he murdered his parents with a hammer and a knife because he became enraged with them for placing him on medication. Investigators stated that Turk also informed the dispatcher he would be stepping outside with a water bottle in hand to await the arrival of police officers. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered blood splattered on the stairs and kitchen floor, with Fraser Turk showing at least one apparent stab wound and Tina Turk found unresponsive in the master bathroom with visible head trauma.

The weapons allegedly used in the murders were later recovered from a trashcan in an upstairs bedroom during the cleanup of the scene. Turk has been formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder. During an interview with investigators, he refused to make any statements, and he appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday wearing a black-and-white uniform. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 7.

Background and Community Reaction

Concerns about Turk's mental health have been raised, with a state attorney noting issues regarding his mental stability at this time. Investigators added that multiple mental health petitions had been completed by both of his parents in the past. Notably, the Peoria Police Department had issued a missing persons alert for Turk in May 2023, which mentioned he was on several medications for unspecified medical conditions; he was later found unharmed.

Neighbors revealed that the Turks have a college-aged daughter who was not home at the time of the murders. The community is mourning the loss of Fraser, a physician's assistant, and Tina, a nurse, who were described as 'great people' by friends. Rob Cagnetta, a longtime family friend, expressed his shock, stating, 'We've really lost two people that cared about the community.' He emphasized their willingness to always lend a hand and urged that the tragedy not overshadow their positive contributions.

Turk is currently being held at the Maricopa County Jail on a $2 million cash-only bond, as confirmed by early Thursday reports. The Peoria Police Department has been contacted for further comment on the ongoing investigation.
