New Footage Captures Moped Raid on London Jewellers

Terrifying new CCTV footage has emerged showing the moment machete-wielding thieves smashed their way into a jewellers on a moped before embarking on a brazen theft spree. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at a Turkish gold shop on Green Lanes in north London, where four figures clad in black and motorcycle helmets launched a violent raid.

Chaotic Scenes Inside and Outside the Shop

The footage from inside the shop reveals the moped driver ramming the bike straight through the front door while a customer was speaking to the shop attendant. The other men then rushed in, smashing glass cabinets to snatch jewellery and terrifying two women who fled to the back for safety. Simultaneously, footage from outside shows one of the men threatening onlookers with a machete while another passed fistfuls of jewellery to the getaway driver on the moped.

Previously released footage recorded by an onlooker across the street depicts two of the group remaining outside: one sitting on a bike and the other patrolling the pavement, waving a huge machete to ward off any intervention. In a bold act of defiance, a passerby confronted the watchman with a wooden broom, charging towards him and using the handle to defend against wild swipes of the blade.

Brave Locals Attempt to Halt the Escape

The other two thieves emerged from the shop clutching large shopping bags, apparently stuffed with stolen goods, and jumped onto their bikes while a man bellowed 'thieves' at the top of his voice. Both bikes moved off, but one of the rear passengers stumbled and struggled to mount the bike, giving members of the public another opportunity to strike. Some hurled bottles in an attempt to knock him off the escape vehicle, while a different man armed with the broom gave chase. Another sprinted across the road brandishing a saw at the blundering thief.
