A father has recounted the horrific moment he found his teenage daughter dead in their Essex home after she was attacked by the family dog. Jack Biscoe, 37, discovered his daughter Jamie-Lea Biscoe, 19, collapsed on the floor of his bedroom around 10.45pm on Friday night in the village of Leaden Roding.
Tragic Discovery and Police Response
Police rushed to the scene but sadly pronounced the teenager dead after she suffered a bite wound to her neck. The dog, a seven-year-old blue-merle lurcher named Shy, has been seized by authorities along with her puppies following the tragic incident.
Father's Heartbreaking Account
In an emotional interview with The Sun, Mr Biscoe described the "horror and destruction" caused by his daughter's death, despite previously considering Shy the "softest dog" and his daughter's "best friend." He warned families about how quickly a dog can take a life, emphasizing that dangerous dogs are "not breed specific."
"Witnessing the horror and destruction it has caused me, it's not worth it," Mr Biscoe said. "Treat them as dogs, give them their beds, be careful."
He added with profound grief: "I thought I could trust that dog with my life and it took my daughter's life."
Attempted Rescue and Injuries
Mr Biscoe was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury resulting in death, then released on bail on Saturday night. He discovered his daughter unconscious between his bed and bedside table after returning home from KFC with his partner Steven Daniels, 43.
As he attempted to save his daughter by administering CPR, Shy attacked him, leaving puncture wounds in his arms and partially biting off his ear, injuries that will require reconstructive surgery.
Daughter Remembered as "Best Friend"
Mr Biscoe described Jamie-Lea as his "best friend" and expressed the immense pain of her loss. "I don't know how to step forward without that child in my life. She was my only child," he said.
The horse trainer had purchased Shy when she was just seven weeks old. Her 18-month-old puppies, Bella and Mouse, were downstairs during the attack.

A GoFundMe page established by Ms Biscoe's aunt, Maria, to raise money for funeral costs has garnered nearly £3,000 in donations. The page describes Jamie-Lea as "the kindest most beautiful young adult" who "adored her dad Jack."
Relatives have paid tribute on social media, with one loved one writing: "Our darling Jamie-Lea rip our girl." Another, Tina Wells, noted the dog was a "family pet" that "slept on my granddaughter's bed."
Church Warden David Tregunno from St Michael's and All the Angels opened the local church for prayer and reflection on Sunday afternoon, stating: "We're obviously thinking and praying for the young lady who has recently died in this very terrible situation."
Police Investigation Continues
An Essex Police spokeswoman confirmed Jamie-Lea Biscoe died from injuries believed to have resulted from a dog attack. The 37-year-old man arrested has been bailed until July while enquiries continue.
The dog, described as a family pet and believed to be a Lurcher Cross, has been seized, with tests underway to formally establish the precise breed. A post-mortem examination is due to take place to confirm the cause of death.
Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper expressed condolences: "Our thoughts remain with all those who knew and loved Jamie-Lea. Her young life has been so tragically cut short."
