Parents waiting to collect their children from a Nottingham primary school were left horrified on Friday afternoon after witnessing two men allegedly carrying knives and chasing another individual in close proximity to the school grounds.
Police Launch Urgent Investigation Following Disturbing Incident
The alarming episode unfolded at approximately 3pm on Hillington Rise in the Bestwood area of Nottingham, coinciding with the busy end-of-school pick-up period. Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were swiftly dispatched to the scene following multiple reports of men wielding knives and pursuing a man near Glade Hill Primary and Nursery School.
Victim Located Unharmed as Detectives Scour CCTV Footage
Police have confirmed that the victim, a man in his twenties, was subsequently located and found to be physically unharmed following the chase. A dedicated team of detectives has now launched a comprehensive investigation, meticulously analysing available CCTV footage and conducting extensive inquiries to identify and trace those responsible for the incident.
In an official statement, Nottinghamshire Police emphasised their ongoing efforts: "Officers also want to speak to any witnesses who have not yet given an account, as well as anyone with relevant footage of the moments before, during and after the incident." The force also confirmed that a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified in connection with the event.
Senior Officer Seeks to Reassure Shocked Local Community
Detective Inspector Lisa Jones of Nottinghamshire Police addressed the community's concerns directly. "Thankfully no one was injured and we believe it is likely the victim and attackers are known to each other," she stated. "We also do not believe there was any wider risk to members of the public who were in the area."
However, DI Jones acknowledged the profound impact on witnesses, many of whom were parents collecting their young children. "We know the incident was witnessed by a number of people as it occurred close to a school at a busy time," she said. "I’d like to reassure anyone who was impacted that we are working hard to identify those responsible for this appalling behaviour and patrols have been stepped up over the weekend and into next week."
The police are urging any additional witnesses or individuals with information to come forward to aid the investigation. Anyone who can assist is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 445 of 30 January 2026, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
