A major police manhunt continues to intensify across New South Wales, with authorities now entering their second week of searching for triple murder suspect Julian Ingram. The 37-year-old remains at large following a horrific shooting incident that claimed three lives and left a small rural community living in profound fear.
Community in Fear as Search Enters Critical Phase
The tragic events unfolded on Thursday, January 22, in the quiet town of Lake Cargellio, where police believe Ingram allegedly shot and killed three people including his pregnant ex-partner. The violence has sent shockwaves through the close-knit community, with residents described as being terrified as the extensive search operation continues without resolution.
Chilling CCTV Footage Emerges
Newly released CCTV footage has revealed that Ingram, who is also known by the alias Pierpoint, attended a police station on the very same day the shootings occurred. The footage shows the suspect wearing distinctive clothing including a yellow and navy high visibility shirt, navy cargo pants, black boots and a red cap.
Police have confirmed this is currently a reported sighting that has yet to be officially verified, but it provides crucial insight into the suspect's movements during the critical hours surrounding the attacks.
Sequence of Deadly Violence
According to police reports, the violence began at approximately 4.30pm on Bokhara Street, where Ingram allegedly opened fire on 24-year-old Sophie Quinn and her friend John Harris, 32, while they were driving a vehicle. Both victims were fatally wounded in this initial attack.
The suspect then reportedly travelled to a residential property in the town where he allegedly shot Sophie's aunt, Nerida Quinn, 50. A fourth victim, 19-year-old Kaled Macqueen, was also shot on the driveway of the Walker Street property and remains hospitalised with serious injuries.
Bail Controversy and Previous Charges
In a development that has raised serious questions, police have confirmed that Ingram was granted bail for domestic violence charges just weeks before the fatal shootings. On November 30, 2025, he was released after allegedly assaulting Quinn following their separation, facing charges of stalking or intimidating intending to cause fear or physical harm, along with common assault.
Unique Search Challenges
NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Andy Holland has described the manhunt as operating under "extraordinary conditions," noting that Ingram's council job role gives him particular knowledge of the local terrain. "He is aware where hiding holes are such as caves," Holland explained, highlighting the unique challenges facing search teams.
The search operation has involved a significant number of property searches over the past seven days, with multiple lines of enquiry being actively pursued. One particular focus has been a man on a bicycle who refused to stop for officers, though police have not confirmed any direct connection to Ingram.
Appeal to the Public
Assistant Commissioner Holland has made a direct plea to anyone who might be assisting the suspect: "Think about the wider community. What he has committed here is an atrocity."
Police believe Ingram remains alive and are urging extreme caution for anyone who might encounter him. He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, approximately 165cm-170cm tall, with a medium build, short dark hair, brown eyes, and several distinctive tattoos on his arms.
Vehicle of Interest
The suspect's vehicle also remains missing, described as a Ford Ranger utility with NSW registration DM-07-GZ. The vehicle features council signage, a metal tray back, high visibility markings on the side, and an emergency light bar on the roof.
Authorities have issued a stern warning that anyone who sees Julian Ingram or this vehicle should not approach under any circumstances, but instead contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.
As the manhunt enters its second week, police resources remain heavily deployed across the region, with the community anxiously awaiting developments in this tragic case that has left three families devastated and an entire town living in fear.
