An investigation has been launched after a significant fire broke out near a synagogue in north London on Thursday afternoon, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
Firefighters Tackle Huge Blaze Near Synagogue
The London Fire Brigade dispatched around 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines to the scene on Cazenove Road, Stamford Hill, at 4:14 pm. The blaze affected the roof and other floors of the property.
According to the brigade, the fire is not believed to have been started deliberately, though investigations are continuing to determine the exact cause.
Casualties and Community Response
Three people were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, with two subsequently taken to hospital for further medical attention. Volunteers from Shomrim, a Jewish neighbourhood watch organisation, confirmed the fire's proximity to a synagogue and provided support to Hackney police. The public was advised to avoid the affected area.
The incident underscores the rapid response of emergency services and the community's collaborative efforts to ensure safety.
