Family Pays Tribute to Man Found Dead in Caravan

Ashley Menzel, a 42-year-old man found dead in a caravan parked in a lay-by earlier this month, has been named and pictured by police. His family described him as a "beloved" son, brother, boyfriend, uncle, and nephew.

Discovery of the Body

The body of Mr. Menzel was discovered in a caravan parked in a lay-by on the A6 Derby Road in Loughborough on Monday, July 6. East Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation Launched

The East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) launched an investigation into his death. Further enquiries established that Mr. Menzel had been involved in an altercation in the days leading up to being found. A murder investigation has since been launched.

Family Tribute

In a statement, his family said: “Ashley was a beloved son, brother, boyfriend, uncle and nephew. He was a beloved member of the family who will be deeply missed by all of us. He was his mum’s little boy and his dad’s best friend. Though he had recently been going through a hard time, was on the road to recovery before his life was brought to a sad and abrupt end.”

Arrests and Appeal

Two men, aged 56 and 42, were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain on bail while enquiries continue. Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to call 101 or visit www.leics.police.uk, quoting reference 26*398136.
