Two teenagers and a teacher have been hospitalised after an acid attack at Westminster Academy in Paddington, west London. The incident occurred at around 4.40pm on Monday, 30 September, when a corrosive substance was thrown at the victims outside the school building.
A 14-year-old girl suffered potentially life-changing injuries and remains in hospital. A 16-year-old boy is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while a 27-year-old woman, believed to be a teacher, has been discharged. Two police officers were also taken to hospital as a precaution after feeling unwell.
Police are searching for the assailant. The school was closed on Tuesday for investigation but is expected to reopen on Wednesday. Principal Numera Anwar urged the public to avoid speculation, stating that support is being offered to those affected.
Westminster City Council leader Adam Hug described the attack as 'truly shocking' and confirmed that educational psychologists will be provided. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police.
