A secondary school in Derby was forced into an emergency lockdown on Tuesday afternoon, with armed police rushing to the scene after reports of a man possibly carrying a weapon near the premises.

Derbyshire Police confirmed that officers were called to Great Northern Road, Derby, just before 3pm, when pupils at Derby Cathedral School were preparing to leave for the day. The school immediately implemented lockdown procedures, keeping students inside while authorities responded.
