A major police manhunt is underway in Lancashire for a masked individual, accused of recklessly letting off a firework that has left a young child fighting for his life.
Critical Condition Following Bonfire Night Horror
The horrific incident occurred on Bonfire Night in the Elm Street area of Burnley. Emergency services were called to the scene following multiple reports of anti-social behaviour involving fireworks.
Tragically, a four-year-old boy was seriously injured during the disturbance. A police spokesperson confirmed that the child remains in a critical condition in hospital.
CCTV Images Released in Public Appeal
In a bid to identify the suspect, Lancashire Police have circulated a series of clear CCTV images. The footage shows a youth wearing a dark gilet and a hooded top.
The images capture the suspect both with a mask obscuring his face and with it lowered, giving the public a clear view of his appearance. Authorities are urging the community to examine the pictures closely.
Community Urged to 'Do the Right Thing'
The police force has made a direct and emotional appeal to the public for assistance. A spokesperson stated: "We are urging the community to do the right thing and tell us who he is."
They further emphasised the severity of the situation, adding: "We are aware this area has seen previous anti-social use of fireworks but this year has gone too far, resulting in a child being hospitalised."
