A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after suffering a severe neck injury during what police are describing as an unprovoked attack in Birmingham city centre.

The violent incident occurred on Smallbrook Queensway at approximately 9pm on Friday, November 7. Emergency services rushed to the scene following multiple reports of a stabbing.

Arrest Made as Investigation Continues

Officers from West Midlands Police quickly apprehended a suspect near the location of the assault. A man in his 20s was taken into custody and remains there for questioning.

Detective Inspector James Nix provided an update on the case, stating the force believes this was a random act of violence. "We believe this was an unprovoked attack and are working to understand why it happened," he said.

He also sought to reassure the public, confirming that officers will be present in the area to continue the investigation and provide a visible presence.
