Bonnie Blue, the adult star whose real name is Tia Billinger, is facing up to 15 years in a Bali prison after being arrested for violating Indonesia's strict anti-pornography laws. The 26-year-old was detained on Friday alongside around 20 Australian and British nationals, following a tip-off about alleged pornographic content being made in a studio on the island.
Police seized items including contraception, cameras, erectile drugs, and her infamous 'Bonnie Blue Bangbus' truck, which was also untaxed. If convicted, she could face a fine of up to 6 billion rupiah (approximately $541,000 Australian dollars).
According to Michael Buehler, Associate Professor in Comparative Politics, cases tend to move faster with publicity or political pressure. He told the Daily Mirror that if treated as a criminal matter, the process typically moves from police questioning to a prosecutorial decision and potentially a court process. As a foreign national, she can request consular access from the UK, but officials cannot intervene in Indonesian legal proceedings.
If imprisoned, Blue will face harsh conditions. Indonesian prisons are widely reported to be overcrowded and under-resourced, with sanitation, healthcare, and living conditions significantly worse than in the UK. Buehler noted that treatment can be highly uneven, and informal payments or corruption can shape inmates' daily experiences.
Blue entered Bali on a tourist visa and advertised her trip as a 'meet-and-greet opportunity' for recently graduated Australians attending Schoolies events. Her posts, directed at 'barely legal' teenagers, came after she was previously banned from visiting Australia.
