Elderly Woman, 95, Bound and Threatened in Deceptive Window Cleaning Ruse
95-Year-Old Tied Up in Fake Window Cleaning Incident

In a deeply disturbing incident that has shocked the local community, a 95-year-old woman was tied up and threatened by a man who deceitfully gained entry to her home under the pretence of offering to clean her windows. The vile attack occurred in Little Hulton, Salford, at approximately 11am on Tuesday, prompting an urgent police investigation.

Deceptive Entry and Terrifying Ordeal

The suspect, described as a white male in his late 60s to early 70s, approached the pensioner's property with an offer to clean her windows. Once inside, however, he quickly revealed his true intentions, binding the elderly woman's hands and demanding that she hand over her purse and cash. The situation escalated as he issued threats, leaving the victim in a state of fear and distress.

Brave Intervention Prevents Further Harm

Thankfully, the ordeal was cut short when a friend of the elderly woman arrived at the house and confronted the intruder. This brave intervention disrupted the thief's plans, causing him to flee the scene before any physical injuries could be inflicted. Greater Manchester Police have commended the friend's actions, noting that the situation could have been far more serious without their timely arrival.

Police Appeal for Public Assistance

Detective Inspector Paul Davies of Greater Manchester Police has issued a strong appeal for information, describing the incident as "vile" and emphasising the force's determination to locate the perpetrator. No arrests have been made yet, but extensive enquiries are ongoing, with an increased police presence planned for the area in the coming days.

Officers are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward, no matter how insignificant it may seem. This includes:

  • Witnesses who saw anything suspicious in the Little Hulton area around 11am on Tuesday.
  • Individuals with CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage that might capture the suspect or related activity.
  • Details about the man's appearance, as he was noted to be well-kempt with short mousy brown hair combed back, glasses, no facial hair, and wearing a dark raincoat jacket, jeans, and dark-coloured shoes.
