A 15-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after he was allegedly stabbed repeatedly by a group of three hooded youths outside a school in Cranbourne, Melbourne.
The incident occurred just yards from Alkira Secondary College as the boy left the school at 3.15pm on July 20. Victoria Police said the group reportedly yelled a "war cry" before launching the attack. The attackers were not students at the school.
Attack details and police response
Police confirmed the attackers used several knives and machetes. The victim suffered wounds to his neck, back and hands. The three suspects fled before officers arrived and remain on the run.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed the teenage boy was taken to hospital and is in a "serious condition". Victoria Police Detective Inspector Mark Patrick described the attack as "extremely violent" and said the group reportedly yelled a "war cry".
Appeal for information
Victoria Police said: "A crime scene is in place and officers are still searching for the outstanding offenders. Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam or CCTV footage, or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers."
A Department of Education spokesperson said: "An Alkira Secondary College student was assaulted in an incident that occurred outside the school and after school hours. The college is providing wellbeing support to those involved."
