What Customers Should Do

The FSA advises: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to your nearest ASDA store for a full refund. For further information, please contact ASDA’s customer relations team on 0330 053 0111.”

Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that sell the product, explaining the reason for the recall and the steps customers should take.

Understanding Recalls and Withdrawals

The FSA explained that when a food product has a problem that means it should not be sold, it may be ‘withdrawn’ (removed from shelves) or ‘recalled’ (customers asked to return the product). The agency issues Product Recall Information Notices to inform consumers and local authorities. In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued, providing local authorities with specific measures to protect consumers.

Asda has apologized for the inconvenience and assured customers that refunds will be processed promptly.
