Several major supermarkets, including Asda, Co-op, Lidl, Morrisons, Iceland, and Ikea, have issued a series of food recalls this month, urging customers to check batch numbers and best before dates on affected products. The recalls are due to potential contamination with metal shavings, plastic, or Listeria, as well as undeclared allergens, according to Food Standards Scotland (FSS).
Asda is recalling three types of Extra Special Mince Pies because they may contain trace amounts of plastic. The FSS advises customers not to eat the products and to return them to any Asda store for a full refund, with no receipt required. Co-op is recalling its Anchovies in Olive Oil 50g tins with best before end dates of September 2023, as the product contains histamine, posing a risk to those with histamine sensitivity.
Lidl has extended a recall of smoked salmon and trout products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Customers are advised to return the items for a full refund. Morrisons is recalling Ella's Kitchen Banana Multigrain Baby Rice because it contains oats (gluten) not listed on the label, and the texture is too thick for four-month-old infants.
Ikea is recalling Almondy Almond cake with Daim due to the presence of metal pieces in the product. Iceland is continuing to recall its Takeaway Pilau Rice, which has been incorrectly packed with egg fried rice, containing undeclared egg, sesame, soya, and wheat. Korea Foods Company Ltd is recalling Sunshine in the Morning drink as it contains milk not specified on the label, posing a risk to those with lactose intolerance.
Customers who have purchased any of the affected items are urged to return them to the store of purchase for a full refund. Further information can be obtained by contacting the respective retailers' customer service lines.
