An 18-year-old man from Pennsylvania has been taken into custody following a dramatic cross-state manhunt, accused of shooting both his parents on Boxing Day, resulting in his mother's death.
Manhunt Ends With Arrest in West Virginia
Jarrod Noll was apprehended by West Virginia State Police on Saturday, 27 December, after fleeing the scene of the alleged attack. The arrest took place without incident, according to official statements. Pennsylvania authorities had launched a massive search for Noll after he was identified as the suspect in the shooting at a property on Garrison Road in Freeport Township.
The incident occurred on Friday, 26 December, at approximately 1:58 PM local time. Police rushed to the address following reports of two shooting victims. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult woman with a critical gunshot wound. She was transported by paramedics to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, where she was later pronounced dead.
Details of the Boxing Day Attack
Police also found an adult male victim who had sustained gunshot injuries. He was taken to the same hospital for treatment and was later discharged in a stable condition. Initial investigations confirmed that the two victims were husband and wife, and their alleged assailant was their biological son, Jarrod Noll.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene on foot, prompting an extensive but initially unsuccessful search of the surrounding area. Authorities warned the public that the suspect may be armed and dangerous and issued a detailed description. Noll was described as a white male, roughly six feet tall with an average build, brown hair, prominent eyebrows, and a moustache.
Aftermath and Charges
Police revealed that Noll's younger siblings were inside the family home at the time of the incident. Fortunately, as the shooting took place outdoors, they were not harmed. The children are now in the care of another relative.
Jarrod Noll remains in police custody in West Virginia and is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania to face formal charges. He is expected to be charged with homicide and attempted homicide in connection with the Boxing Day attack.
