Tragic Discovery by Young Son Leads to Double Homicide Investigation
In a deeply distressing incident that has shocked the Las Vegas community, a brave seven-year-old boy dialled emergency services after finding his mother unresponsive in their family home. Amill McClelland made the urgent 911 call on the morning of January 28, discovering his mother, Briana Flowers, aged 31, and her friend, Anfernee Pollard, also 31, lifeless inside the residence.
Police Response and Fatal Outcome
Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department swiftly responded to the distress call around 7:20 a.m., arriving at the scene to find both victims suffering from severe, life-threatening gunshot wounds. Despite immediate emergency aid administered by police until medical personnel arrived, tragically, both Briana Flowers and Anfernee Pollard were pronounced dead at the location. The authorities have now launched a full investigation, treating the deaths as a double homicide, though no suspect has been publicly named at this stage.
History of Domestic Violence and Stalking Allegations
Family members and close friends of Briana Flowers have revealed that her untimely death followed a series of alarming domestic violence and stalking incidents involving her former boyfriend. Shatiera Davis, a friend of Flowers and godmother to young Amill, disclosed to local media that just one week prior to the tragedy, on January 21, Flowers had contacted police after an altercation with her ex-boyfriend left her with bruises requiring medical attention.
"She basically told me her ex-boyfriend had tried to kill her," Davis recounted, highlighting the severity of the threats Flowers faced. Additionally, Davis shared that Flowers had reported a man peering through her window while she slept, an incident that left her deeply unsettled. "She saw someone looking in her blinds in her house while she was asleep. She told me, she said, I just had a feeling to wake up and I looked out my window and someone was staring at me," Davis detailed.
Efforts to Ensure Safety and Personal Struggles
In response to these frightening events, friends had been staying with Flowers at her home to provide support and enhance her sense of security. Among them was Anfernee Pollard, affectionately known as 'Big Bang' to loved ones, who was visiting from his home in Belize. Described as a protector and a safe presence for those he cared about, Pollard's life was tragically cut short during this violent episode.
Compounding Flowers' difficulties, family members disclosed that she had recently endured the loss of her mother, leading her to assume custody of her sisters. This personal turmoil added to the challenges she faced, making her sudden death even more devastating for her surviving relatives, including her young son and sisters.
Community Support and Fundraising Initiatives
In the wake of this tragedy, the community has rallied to provide financial and emotional support. A GoFundMe page has been established to assist Amill McClelland, who was described as "his mom's whole world." The funds are intended to support his future needs, including education and extracurricular activities, with over $11,500 raised as of Sunday morning.
Shatiera Davis has pledged to ensure her godson receives the care and stability he needs, stating, "I just want Briana to know that her family loves her. We’re going to step up and make sure Emil has that foundation that he needs in this time. We’re going to make sure he’s okay." Simultaneously, a separate fundraising effort has been initiated to help Pollard's family cover the $14,000 required to transport his body back to Belize for burial, with more than $2,000 contributed so far.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department continues its investigation into the double homicide, though it has not yet confirmed any direct link to the previously reported stalking incident. As the community mourns, the focus remains on supporting the bereaved families and seeking justice for Briana Flowers and Anfernee Pollard.
