Essex Police are appealing for help to locate a pair of blue Louis Vuitton trainers, valued at approximately £1,000, that belonged to a 21-year-old man who died after an alleged kidnapping. Jack Sullivan, from Waltham Abbey, Essex, was reportedly taken from the town on June 22, seriously assaulted, and later died from his injuries on June 26 in hospital.
Details of the Incident
Police previously stated that Mr Sullivan was found seriously injured in a car park in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, on June 22. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries four days later. The investigation has now been upgraded to a murder probe, with detectives seeking the public's assistance to find the missing designer footwear.
According to Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood, who is leading the investigation, the trainers are blue Louis Vuitton sneakers. “We believe someone will either be wearing them – perhaps with no knowledge of their prior owner – or attempting to sell them,” he said.
Vehicle Used in Kidnap
Police have also released an image of a black Mitsubishi Outlander that they believe was used in the kidnap. The vehicle, which bore the false registration plate HY16 FZR, was stolen from an address in Loughton on June 3. It was later abandoned in River Close, near Fishers Close, in Waltham Cross, between June 3 and June 23.
Detective Chief Inspector Wood urged anyone who saw the vehicle during that period or its abandonment to come forward. “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this vehicle between June 3 and June 23, when we know it was abandoned in River Close,” he said.
Arrests and Investigation
Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder and released on conditional bail. The investigation remains active, with police focusing on tracing the trainers and the vehicle.
“At the heart of this investigation is Jack and his loved ones. We are determined to provide answers for them,” DCI Wood added. Anyone with information is asked to provide it via Essex Police’s public portal.
