A murder investigation has been launched after a man died following an alleged assault outside a kebab shop.
A police investigation was launched earlier this month after a 38-year-old man was seriously injured following an incident at Market Street in Rhosllanerchrugog, Denbighshire.
The incident happened shortly before midnight on Friday, June 5, outside the Rhos Kebab and Pizza House, and a police cordon was in place on the street outside the takeaway the following morning, with the owner of the business saying an incident had taken place near to the shop entrance.
North Wales Police has now confirmed that the 38-year-old man died in hospital on Wednesday, June 17.
A police spokesperson said on Friday: "A 37-year-old local man, who was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following the incident on June 5, has since been further arrested on suspicion of murder following the man's death."
"He remains in police custody where he is being interviewed by detectives. The man's family and coroner have been made aware."
Detective chief inspector Eleri Thomas said: "I would like to reassure residents that this appears to be an isolated incident and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the man's death.
"I also urge that nothing is posted online that could be prejudicial to future court proceedings or undermine the criminal justice process. My thoughts remain with his family at this difficult time."
