Mum-of-six dies in taxi on way to family holiday

A family has been left heartbroken after an 'amazing' mum-of-six tragically died in a taxi while travelling to a caravan park with her children.

Lisa Osman, 46, from Moston, passed away during a taxi journey with her 13-year-old daughter Kadie and husband Baba on the way to a five-day break at the Haven Marton Mere caravan park in Blackpool on Monday (June 15). Two of her other children, Leighlan and Mason, were in a second taxi.

The family, who had been putting money aside for the trip to the seaside resort, had taken the train from Manchester for their first holiday in several years.

Upon reaching Blackpool, they divided the group between two taxis because of the amount of luggage they had, with two of her other sons travelling in a second vehicle.

But moments into the journey, family friend Danielle Latchford, speaking on behalf of the relatives, said Lisa's husband Baba realised that she 'didn't look right'.

After requesting the driver head to hospital instead, Lisa lost the ability to speak before tragically dying on the spot, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Upon reaching Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Danielle said it was 'too late' to attempt resuscitation. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place later this week to establish her medical cause of death.

Speaking to the M.E.N about the tragedy, Danielle said: "They hadn't been on holiday for years together, so were looking forward to it. They were so excited, their youngest Mason, who has special needs, said he couldn't wait to go swimming.

"They got the train up there and then got two taxis for all their bags. Leighlan and Mason were in one, and Lisa, Baba and Kadie were in the other. He looked at her and said she didn't look right and asked the driver to take them to hospital.

"She didn't look well at all but they didn't know what was up with her. She couldn't talk or anything.

"When they were about five minutes away, she just died. She wasn't unwell or anything. It just happened so suddenly. Nobody can believe it. Baba was doing CPR on her in the back of the taxi."

Lisa, who has six children with long-term partner Baba, who she met in Turkey, including youngest Mason, aged eight, is a well-known figure in the Moston community, described as an 'amazing' mum who would 'do anything for anyone'.

She regularly helps partner Baba with their work at The Hub, a community centre for the area, and have held numerous fundraising events as well as supporting disadvantaged young people in becoming involved in football or boxing.

"She literally just went, there and then," Danielle said. "They had all been singing 'We're all going on a summer holiday' two hours before. None of us can believe it. By the time they got to the hospital, she was already gone."

Paying tribute, Danielle, a friend of ten years, said: "Lisa has just always been there. She was the life and soul of everything and in the community.

"Everyone knows her. She has lots of grandkids and absolutely adored them. I can't even put it into words, you'd have to meet her to understand. Her kids were her life, she was an amazing mum, and she was the kind of person who would just do anything for anyone."

Online tributes also poured in, with Lisa's son Jordan writing: "You were my mum who did an unbelievable job raising me to be the man I am today and I'll always love you and never forget you. Rest in peace Mum!"

Another post read: "My heart goes out to you and your family. It's such a sad shock. So young too. I love Lisa. She was a good a person always let on and smiled over the years."

A GoFundMe has been established to raise funds for Lisa's funeral following her sudden passing. The description read: "Finding the words to write this was so so hard yet nowhere in comparison to how the family are feeling right now.

"On Monday 15th Lisa unexpectedly passed away on a family holiday as you can imagine this was a massive shock and has devastated a lovely family.

"I know nothing can really take away the pain they're feeling right now but in doing this we hope we can at least take a little bit of the financial stress away to help towards the funeral expenses and for the younger children."
