Four men have been arrested in connection with the 1982 cold-case murder of 16-year-old Roxanne Sharp in Covington, Louisiana. The breakthrough came after a podcast titled “Who Killed Roxanne” generated new information and leads.
Details of the Case
Roxanne Sharp’s body was discovered in a wooded area in February 1982. Initial investigations indicated she had been raped and murdered, but the case remained unsolved for decades. The podcast, produced by detectives and a local radio host, revived interest in the case and prompted fresh inquiries.
Arrests and Charges
Perry Taylor, 64, Darrell Spell, 64, Carlos Cooper, 64, and Billy Williams Jr., 62, all from Covington, have been charged with aggravated rape and second-degree murder. They are currently in custody awaiting trial.
Police Chief Michael Ferrell stated that the resolution of the case is a testament to persistence, collaboration, and advancements in investigative technology. He noted that this brings justice to Sharp and her family after more than 40 years.
The arrests highlight the growing role of media and public engagement in solving cold cases, with podcasts increasingly becoming a tool for generating new leads and evidence.
