A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a teenager in north-west London, police have confirmed.

The Metropolitan Police stated that the suspect, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions, was arrested and charged on Tuesday after an investigation into the stabbing in Dudden Hill Lane, Dollis Hill, on May 30.

Jamal Ringrose, 15, was treated at the scene for stab wounds before being taken to hospital, where he died on June 4.

Police Response and Community Reassurance

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads policing in the area, said on Thursday: “We recognise the concern locally after Jamal’s death and want to reassure our communities that we are doing everything possible to keep local people safe.

“Our officers have acted swiftly to make arrests in connection with the wider disorder surrounding this incident.

“This includes putting extra powers in place following Jamal’s death, allowing our officers to stop and search people in the area to protect the public and deter potential harm and criminality.”

Additional Arrests and Charges

Police said a further eight people were previously arrested in connection with the incident.

  • Two teenage boys arrested on June 2 and June 3 were later charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
  • An 18-year-old man arrested on May 31 on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm has been released on bail.
  • A 19-year-old man arrested on June 4 on suspicion of affray has been released on bail.
  • An 18-year-old man arrested on June 11 on suspicion of affray and possession of drugs has been bailed.
  • A 28-year-old man arrested on June 12 on suspicion of rioting and a 27-year-old man arrested on June 14 on suspicion of the same offence have been bailed pending further inquiries.
  • A 17-year-old boy arrested on Monday on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Investigation Continues

Detective Inspector Simon Ager, leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts continue to be with the family and loved ones of Jamal at a difficult time.

“Our work has led to one boy being charged with murder and we continue to work at pace to pursue several lines of inquiry following Jamal’s tragic death.

“We would like to repeat our plea to anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward. Dashcam or mobile phone recordings from the street at that time are particularly welcome.”
