The incident damaged overhead wires, affecting multiple routes, with delays and cancellations expected throughout the day.
Affected Routes and Services
Trains between Wolverhampton, Stafford, and Shrewsbury are currently unable to operate in either direction. The following operators have been impacted: Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, London Northwestern Railway, Transport for Wales, and West Midlands Railway.
Alternative Travel Arrangements
Rail replacement buses are running between Telford and Wolverhampton, with onward rail travel available from Telford Central to Shrewsbury. Passengers are advised to check their journey before travelling and allow extra time.
West Midlands Railway confirmed the derailment and stated that engineers are working to repair the damaged overhead wires. Disruption is expected to continue for the rest of the day.
