A major police incident has forced the complete closure of the M621 motorway in West Yorkshire, causing significant disruption for morning commuters.
Road Closed in Both Directions
The M621 is currently shut to all traffic in both directions between key junctions. The westbound carriageway is closed between Junction 7 at Stourton and Junction 5. The eastbound side is closed between Junction 3 for Leeds and Junction 7. National Highways, which is assisting police with traffic management, has urged drivers to avoid the area. A spokesperson stated that while there are no significant delays yet, the situation could change rapidly. "Due to the nature of the incident, we are unable to confirm how long the closure will remain in place," they said.
The agency has implemented local diversion routes around the closure points. They are strongly advising motorists whose journeys are affected to:
