Jet2 Clarifies 'Extra 10kg' Baggage Rule After Passenger Confusion
Jet2 Clarifies Baggage Rule After Passenger Confusion

Jet2 has clarified its luggage rules after a customer raised a question about how the policies apply to group bookings. The passenger, traveling with two adults and a six-month-old baby, sought clarification after receiving conflicting information from staff on a previous trip.

Confusion Over Infant Baggage Allowance

The customer explained that their booking included two 22kg checked bags and they had been told on a previous holiday with Jet2 that they were entitled to an extra 10kg for the baby. However, they received differing messages: on the outbound flight, staff said it was fine to have a 32kg case (22kg plus the 10kg), but on the return flight, they were told the 10kg should be a separate small checked case.

Jet2 responded to clarify the rule: "The additional 10kg is applied to one adult's baggage, allowing for a total of one bag at 32kg and one bag at 22kg." This means passengers can combine the infant allowance with one adult's luggage, rather than requiring a separate bag.

Extra Items for Infants

Jet2 also reminded customers of the two extra items they can bring free of charge per child or infant. These include:

  • A collapsible pushchair, pram, or buggy
  • A car seat or booster seat
  • A baby carrier
  • A travel cot

Each of these items must weigh no more than 32kg. If passengers bring any extra items or items exceeding this weight, standard excess baggage fees will apply.

The airline's website states that bookings with children include an extra 10kg allowance for infants, along with the two free items. Passengers are advised to check the latest guidelines before traveling to avoid confusion.
