Vital Air Link Restored for Cornwall

A crucial air connection between London and Cornwall is being restored this month, offering a major boost for travellers and the local economy. The route from London Gatwick to Newquay in Cornwall is set to resume operations after the previous operator, Eastern Airways, unexpectedly ceased all operations.

New Operator and Flight Schedule

Stepping in to fill the void, Skybus, which is a part of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, has been awarded the government-supported Public Service Obligation (PSO) contract. The airline has confirmed it will commence operating the route from 23 November 2025.

The initial flight schedule will provide a single daily service on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays. In a further expansion of the service, a second weekday flight is scheduled to be introduced from 14 February 2026, significantly improving connectivity.

Affordable Fares and Future Connections

Passengers will benefit from subsidised fares, with one-way tickets starting from £80. This competitive price also includes a 15kg checked baggage allowance, providing excellent value for travellers.

Skybus has stated its primary aim is to rebuild confidence in this essential route. Looking ahead, the airline has ambitious plans to offer seamless, same-ticket fast connections between London and the Isles of Scilly via Newquay, with this new service expected to be in place by February 2026.

This development marks a positive resolution for a route that faced uncertainty, ensuring continued vital transport links for the South West.
