The Christmas supermarket price war has intensified, with Aldi and Lidl slashing prices on festive vegetables to as low as 5p. This marks the cheapest prices in recent years, beating the previous 8p low. The offers are available to all customers without the need for a loyalty card.
Morrisons has also joined the fray, offering selected vegetables at 5p, but only for More cardholders. The deal runs until Boxing Day and includes British carrots (1kg), parsnips (500g), Brussels sprouts (500g), and whole swede.
Aldi's 'Super Six' campaign initially offered vegetables at 8p but has since lowered to 5p. The deal covers white potatoes (2kg), carrots (1kg), parsnips (500g), red and white cabbages, Brussels sprouts (500g), and swede. Lidl matches this with six items at 5p until Christmas Eve, while stocks last, with a limit of three packs per person.
Tesco and Sainsbury's have confirmed price drops to 15p, but these are loyalty scheme offers for Clubcard and Nectar cardholders respectively. Both supermarkets are offering seven reduced items. Asda has not yet confirmed its veg prices for this year.
