A delivery lorry was given an unconventional helping hand in Birmingham this week after a parked car blocked its path. The solution? A forklift simply picked up the offending vehicle and moved it out of the way.
SUV Parked in No-Go Zone Causes Headache
The incident unfolded on Studley Street in the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham. A Volkswagen Tiguan SUV had been left parked, allegedly in a no-parking area, directly blocking the entrance to a business yard. This prevented a large lorry, which was waiting to make a delivery, from being able to turn in and drop off its goods.
Ahmed Hussain, a 28-year-old mobile mechanic from Haven Autocare in Digbeth, witnessed the entire event while he was on a job nearby. "The owner wasn’t back for a while," Ahmed remarked, noting that the car had been there since the early morning.
Industrial Solution to a Parking Problem
With the car's owner nowhere to be found, a worker from a local business took matters into their own hands. Using a forklift, the operator carefully lifted the entire Volkswagen Tiguan, carried it over the road, and placed it in an empty space further down Studley Street.
Ahmed Hussain captured the scene on video, finding the pragmatic solution highly amusing. "I was left in stitches," he said. He believed the forklift belonged to the business that was expecting the delivery from the stranded lorry, which was carrying items such as food or clothing for local shops.
Delivery Completed After Swift Removal
The immediate consequence of the forklift manoeuvre was that the delivery could finally proceed. Once the car was relocated, the lorry was able to access the yard and complete its drop-off without further delay.
While the car was not blocking Ahmed's own business, he confirmed it was parked in a clear no-parking zone. The incident serves as a stark reminder for drivers in busy urban areas to pay close attention to parking restrictions, lest they find their vehicle unexpectedly relocated by industrial machinery.
