Klopp and Gerrard Set for Liverpool Legends Return

Jurgen Klopp and Steven Gerrard are set to return to Anfield on Saturday for a legends charity match against Borussia Dortmund. The fixture, which will benefit the LFC Foundation, will see Klopp assist manager Sir Kenny Dalglish in the dugout.

Klopp, who left Liverpool in summer 2024 after nine years, described the return as 'very emotional and special'. He said: 'I'm really proud to be an Ambassador for the LFC Foundation. To be back at Anfield for the Legends game, alongside Sir Kenny and his team, playing against the BVB legends, that is something special.'

Gerrard, the former club captain, has also expressed his willingness to help Liverpool in any capacity. He told TNT Sports in December 2025: 'I'd help Liverpool in any department at any minute of every day.'

The legends match comes amid fan discontent over Liverpool's current form under manager Arne Slot, with some supporters calling for Klopp or Gerrard to replace him. However, Klopp has stated he will never manage another English club, though he left the door open for a future return to Liverpool.

Former players including Thiago, Sami Hyypia, Fabio Aurelio, Yossi Benayoun, and Ryan Babel are also expected to feature in the match, which kicks off at 3pm GMT on Saturday 28 March.
