Ford Issues Major Safety Recall for Over 400,000 Trucks and SUVs
Ford Motor Co. has announced a significant safety recall affecting more than 400,000 vehicles in the United States. The recall is due to a critical defect where the windshield wiper arms can break, potentially leading to reduced visibility for drivers and an increased risk of crashes.
Vehicles Affected by the Recall
The recall covers a total of 422,613 vehicles across several popular models. Specifically, it includes:
- 2021-2023 Ford Expedition SUVs
- 2021-2023 Lincoln Navigator SUVs
- 2022-2023 Ford F series Super Duty trucks, including the F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, and F-600 SD models
Owners of these vehicles are urged to check their Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) on the NHTSA.gov website, where the affected VINs have been listed since April 1, 2026.
Notification and Repair Process
Ford plans to begin notifying owners of the safety risk by mailing letters starting on April 13, 2026. Once a remedy is fully determined, additional letters will be sent out with further instructions.
Dealerships will inspect and replace the faulty wiper arms free of charge for all affected vehicles. Owners can also contact Ford customer service directly at 1-866-436-7332 and reference the recall number 26S24 for more information or assistance.
Context of Recent Ford Recalls
This recall follows another significant safety action by Ford earlier in the year. In 2026, the company recalled nearly 120,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a potential fire risk caused by cracked engine block heaters. That recall included models such as the Focus, Explorer, Escape, and Lincoln MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine.
Additionally, Canada recalled approximately 300,000 vehicles over the same cracked engine risk, highlighting ongoing quality control challenges in the automotive industry.
Safety officials emphasize the importance of addressing such defects promptly to prevent accidents and ensure driver safety. Vehicle owners are advised to stay informed through official channels and take immediate action if their vehicle is included in this recall.
