Residential cruise operator Villa Vie Residences has unveiled a strategic collaboration with the newly established luxury brand Avora Residences, aiming to deliver a more refined seafaring experience for its residents. This alliance marks a significant development in the burgeoning residential cruise market, offering an alternative lifestyle to traditional retirement through permanent, long-term, or flexible cabin rentals.
Expanding Horizons in Luxury Cruising
Villa Vie Residences, known for its life at sea concept aboard the Villa Vie Odyssey, provides cabins starting from approximately £96,000. In contrast, Avora Residences enters the scene with a focus on a global adventure, promising curated journeys to the world's most sought-after destinations over a continuous three-year period. The partnership will grant residents of both brands access to each other's vessels, including the Odyssey and the forthcoming Lumina, as well as any future ships launched by the companies.
Introducing the Lumina Vessel
Avora Residences is set to debut its flagship vessel, Lumina, in January 2028. The inaugural voyage will depart from Lisbon, Portugal, featuring 268 residences. Prices for ownership on Lumina begin at $219,600 (£162,000) for a five-year term in the lowest category, positioning it as a more refined luxury experience compared to Villa Vie's offerings. This launch underscores the growing demand for high-end residential cruising options.
Exclusive Benefits and Promotions
Under the new alliance, guests who book a cabin on the Odyssey in February for a minimum three-month stay will receive a complimentary two-week visit aboard Lumina after its debut. Additionally, residents will enjoy friends and family benefits across vessels, fostering a more connected global lifestyle ecosystem. According to reports, new Lumina residents traveling on the Odyssey can transfer between ships during a scheduled event in Miami, enhancing flexibility and convenience.
Leadership Insights on the Partnership
Mikael Petterson, founder and chairman of Villa Vie Residences, emphasized that luxury today is defined by access and freedom. He stated, This alliance expands both. Our residents gain access to a broader world of experiences, while each brand maintains its own distinct identity and philosophy. Kathy Villalba, CEO of Villa Vie Residences, added that the opportunity to spend time aboard the Odyssey allows future Lumina owners to begin living the residential-at-sea lifestyle right away, while awaiting Lumina's launch.
This collaboration reflects a strategic move to cater to affluent travelers seeking immersive, long-term cruise experiences, with both brands poised to redefine luxury living on the waves.
