Sydney's Totti's Restaurant Evacuated After Kitchen Fire

Customers at Totti's, one of Sydney's trendiest restaurants, were forced to evacuate during a busy dinner service on Sunday night after a fire broke out in the kitchen. Emergency services were called to the George Street venue in the city's centre at approximately 7.30pm, NSW Police confirmed.

Multiple firetrucks were dispatched to the scene, with pictures showing a large crowd gathered outside the restaurant, which is part of the Ivy Precinct. Nearby Jimmy's Falafel was also evacuated due to the incident. Police said there were no serious injuries and the fire is now under control.

Totti's is owned by the Justin Hemmes-run Merivale group and has three locations across Sydney. The restaurant quickly became a hotspot for Sydney's elite after its first venue opened at The Royal Bondi in December 2018. Its interiors are inspired by an Italian taverna, featuring old timber chairs, pared-back walls, and large olive trees in a lavish courtyard.

The menu, created by executive chef Mike Eggert, includes Italian dishes such as pasta, antipasti, and its famous 'puffy' wood-fired bread. The Bondi, Rozelle, and George Street venues are considered among the trendiest casual dining spots in Sydney.
