Magical Cabin at Highlands Distillery Under Northern Lights

Scots can enjoy the 'staycation of dreams' in a glass clifftop cabin on the grounds of a Highlands distillery this summer, where guests may even catch a glimpse of the breathtaking Northern Lights. Recognised as one of the UK's most magical stays by The Times, these secluded ÖÖD Houses overlooking Lunan Bay feature one-way glass windows and a private wood-fired sauna.

Luxury Cabins on Drumbertnot Farm

Named among the Best Holiday Homes in the UK by Condé Nast Traveller, the luxurious cabins on Drumbertnot Farm in Angus are just a stone's throw from Arbikie Distillery. They are currently available to buy for a two-night stay on Itison. Saving almost 40 per cent, Itison shoppers can snap up a two-night self-catering stay in the ÖÖD Houses for £329, down from £520, from Sundays to Wednesdays until September 2026.

Inside the cabin, guests can enjoy a large double bed with an open-plan kitchenette and living area. There is also a bathroom and shower room. Itison states: 'Stay in Tyne, Triumph or Derkado to enjoy the stunning views while relaxing in your sauna.' The cabins can also be booked via Airbnb for a more expensive price but with more flexible availability.

Distillery Experiences and Local Attractions

Due to the distillery being so close by, lodgers are urged to treat themselves to a whisky, gin and vodka or cocktail experience and tasting at the distillery led by Kirsty Black. Kirsty is one of the top ten female master distillers in the world as listed by Spirits Business Magazine. Guests can also venture into the coastal town of Montrose, where you can visit the local museum and art gallery or take a walk along the seashore.

Those who love the outdoors can explore Montrose Basin - an enclosed estuary and wildlife reserve home to over 100,000 migratory birds, with a visitor centre offering panoramic views. Itison also states that guests should keep an eye out for the breathtaking Northern Lights as the stunning natural phenomenon is often visible from the bay.

Five-Star Reviews from Guests

The cabins on Drumbertnot Farm have received glowing five-star reviews from previous guests. On Itison, one wrote: 'Staycation of dreams! The accommodation was like nothing we’ve stayed in before, and the glass house and sauna was such a cool concept. The floor to ceiling views, cosy nook and private sauna are all first class. The grounds themselves are lovely, and the breakfast at the distillery was perfect. I’d highly recommend staying at Arbikie in the OOD houses and cannot wait to return.'

A second gushed: 'The Ood house was great and we loved the wood fired sauna. We also did the cocktail making experience which was great fun. All in all a great weekend would highly recommend.' A third added: 'Fantastic OOD Mirror House with everything we needed for a relaxing, peaceful short break.'

Itison shoppers will need to be quick if they want to snap up this deal as it appears to be in demand.
