Hotel Booking Hack: Start Your Holiday on a Sunday to Save Money

A travel expert has revealed a simple hotel booking trick that could save holidaymakers over £100. According to Conor O’Neill from money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk, starting your hotel stay on a Sunday is often the cheapest option.

O’Neill explained that Sunday nights have the lowest occupancy rates, prompting hotels to discount rooms to fill them. He cited his own experience booking a double room at Hotel Abitart in Rome for just £17 on a Sunday, compared to higher rates on other days.

“If your travel schedule is flexible, consider including a Sunday night in your stay to reduce costs,” he advised. “This is because most holiday trips leave on a Sunday, and start on either a Saturday or Monday.”

For those without a booked holiday, last-minute deals can also yield significant savings. O’Neill noted that booking a week in advance at Dreams Jardín Tropical Resort in Tenerife was cheaper than booking earlier. He recommended using sites like Secret Escapes and stacking deals with discount codes.

The expert’s tips come as hotel prices continue to rise, adding to the overall cost of holidays. By choosing a Sunday check-in or booking last minute, travellers can free up cash for other expenses like flights, food, and activities.
